Elon Musk: SpaceX, Tesla goals for 2024 on X; 3rd Starship tests a success

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has revealed that he will share updates on his two flagship ventures, SpaceX and Tesla, on X, the rebranded version of Twitter, next month. In a post on the social media platform, Musk said that he will be holding company talks for both SpaceX and Tesla, where he will recap the achievements of 2023 and unveil the plans for 2024.

New updates by Elon Musk

Musk said that the SpaceX talk will be held next week, while the Tesla talk will be scheduled after the company files its annual report with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Based on Tesla’s previous filing date of January 30, 2023, the Tesla talk could be expected around the end of January.

The company talks will be posted publicly on X, allowing the followers of Musk and his businesses to glimpse what the future holds for the two industry leaders. SpaceX and Tesla have been dominating their respective fields of space exploration and electric vehicles, and their upcoming plans will likely be very ambitious and innovative.

SpaceX and Tesla in 2023

SpaceX and Tesla have had a remarkable year in 2023 despite Musk spending considerable time on X. The social media platform, which was acquired by Musk in 2022, has undergone a major overhaul under his leadership, with a new name, logo, and features. Musk has also voiced his vision of making X profitable and user-friendly.

Meanwhile, SpaceX has achieved several milestones in 2023, such as launching 96 rockets, reusing its Falcon 9 for a record 19 times while also ending up destroyed by the seas, conducting another test flight of its Starship rocket, and expanding its Starlink internet service to 2.3 million customers worldwide. SpaceX also closed out 2023 with a fiery double test of its next Starship mega-rocket booster and spacecraft on Friday, sharing some stunning videos of both vehicles in the process.

On Friday, the dual test of engines on the giant Starship and Super Heavy rocket stages at SpaceX’s Starbase proving ground in Boca Chica, Texas, comes as the company prepares for its third Starship launch test, which is expected in early 2024.

“Just completed static fire of Flight 3 Super Heavy Booster,” Musk wrote on X on Friday. The test, which lasted about 10 seconds, successfully fired all 33 Raptor engines on the Super Heavy booster, which serves as the first stage of the Starship rocket, the world’s largest and most powerful booster.

SpaceX’s official X account confirmed the successful test of the Super Heavy Booster 10, as well as a separate test of one Raptor engine on the Starship Ship 28 that will ride atop Super Heavy Booster 10 during the upcoming test flight. The company said the Starship test aimed to demonstrate the Raptor engine’s restart capabilities in space.

“Ignition of a single Raptor engine on Flight 3 Starship demonstrating a flight-like startup for an in-space burn,” SpaceX wrote in an X post.

On the other hand, Tesla has successfully rolled out the Model 3 Highland upgrade in China, delivered the first batch of Cybertrucks, and made significant progress on its Optimus Tesla Bot project, which aims to create humanoid robots powered by Tesla technology.
