After a four-year absence, the Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI) is bringing back its innovation conference this April.

The DiscoveryX Conference and Trade Show, now in its 15th year, will be held from April 17 to 18 in Toronto’s Enercare Centre. The event will host entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, as well as government and tech industry stakeholders.

“The DiscoveryX Conference and Trade Show has been a cornerstone of innovation in Ontario, and we’re thrilled to bring it back.”

DiscoveryX was formerly known simply as Discovery. The 2019 conference, which was the last year the event took place, hosted over 3,000 attendees and close to 500 exhibitors.

According to a statement from the OCI, this year’s DiscoveryX Conference is aimed to foster networking and idea exchange. This year’s event will feature a lineup of speakers, interactive workshops, and a technology showcase.

“The DiscoveryX Conference and Trade Show has been a cornerstone of innovation in Ontario, and we’re thrilled to bring it back,” Claudia Krywiak, president and CEO of the OCI, said in a statement. “This event symbolizes our commitment to cultivating a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within our province.”

“DiscoveryX is the perfect stage for Ontario’s most talented people to display their big ideas and remarkable innovations,” said Reza Moridi, former Ontario Minister of Research, Innovation and Science.

“Over the course of two days we will see how homegrown innovations in areas such as robotics, artificial intelligence and aerospace will help shape our future and build a better, more prosperous province,” Moridi added.

Established in 2002, OCI is an “innovation program delivery partner” mandated to support and help commercialize the research and development in the province.

OCI sits under the umbrella of the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade. Formerly known as the Ontario Centres of Excellence, the non-profit rebranded to OCI in 2020 and the province increased the number of seats the ministry could appoint to its board of directors.

Early bird attendee and student passes are currently available until March 1.
